Oui bon en fait elle aura exactement lieu à Odyssud à Blagnac, mais vous aurez compris l'esprit :) C'est la parfaite occasion pour venir assister à des petites présentations, faire une installation de ubuntu (penser à prendre son PC pour ça) entourée de personnes qui connaissent, ou tout simplement poser des questions et passer un moment agréable. Et puis ce sera l'occasion de venir rencontrer certains membres de la communauté ubuntu française, car cet évènement est organisé en partenariat entre toulibre et ubuntu-fr

Et au passage un vrai troll qui va bientot disparaitre.

En effet la nouvelle vient de tomber (pour le moment de manière très officieuse)... : launchpad va etre open source !

Pour ceux qui ne savent pas launchpad est la plateforme qui sert de base au développement de ubuntu (et de bien d'autres projets aussi) : bugtracker, gestion des versions, gestion des équipes, gestion des traductions, forum, gestion des mailing listes...

Well for the first time, I think it went very well (well if you keep asides some little material pbs such as a few ethernet cables...)

More than fifteen people gathered for the event. After doing some launchpad registering, we have started to speak of some themes that we faced in the Ubuntu development and managing bugs in particular.

I think the idea has been , and most are even interested to go a step further... It rocks !!! and since according the very first feedbacks I have the participants liked the evening too :) It is true that it was very nice and friendly... in the ubuntu community way :)

Et bien pour une première je trouve que celà c'est super bien passé (oui bon on va mettre de coté quelques petits problèmes logisitiques tel que un manque de certains cables ethernet...)...

Une quizaine de personnes ont donc répondus présents pour cette soirée. Après avoir fait des inscriptions à launchpad nous avons pu ensemble aborder quelques thèmes liés au développement Ubuntu et en particulier à la gestion des bugs.

Je crois que le message est bien passé, et que certains sont même assez intéressés pour continuer dans cette voie... Bref c'est chouette ! Et puis apparement d'après les retours les participants ont également appréciés :) Il faut dire que l'ambiance était très sympa !!!

Vu que le WE prochain (du 8 au 10 Aout 2008) a lieu partout dans le monde, le 1er Ubuntu Global bug jam je me lance pour proposer d'en organiser 1 à toulouse... Ben oui je tente de montrer l'exemple ;)

Et déjà c'est quoi un Global Bug Jam ? C'est l'occasion pour un groupe de personnes de se regrouper dans la joie et la bonne humeur pour corriger des bugs Ubuntu... Bien sur les bugs abordés seront simples (une catégorie spéciale doit etre proposée...) histoire de permettre à tout le monde de participer à améliorer la future version Intrepid Ibex. Et puis c'est quand même plus sympa de faire ça en vrai dans la même pièce, plutot que tous derrière un PC dans la même ville...

Je propose donc d'organiser ça Vendredi 8 Aout vers 20h30... Donc surtout si vous êtes intéressés pour y participer merci de laisser un commentaire ici.. Pour le moment il ne manque que des participants ET un endroit pour le faire... Bref si vous avez des idées...

It is now official, since I have updated all the paper of our legal entity, that I am the new leader of the french Loco (http://www.ubuntu-fr.org). But I am not alone, and quite a renew of the team happened (and is still going on)... Of course I'd like to thanks all the guys who has worked hard to make ubuntu-fr what it is today. Thus trying to improve it, will be a greater challenge...

One of our the first decision has been to move our local entity address, to my private one, since we had some problems with the previous address... It should help us a lot...

But expect more to come : indeed we have lots of ongoing work, since we had already started the transition for some months : new website (the transition to drupal should be done within weeks..), new projects, rework of some existing procedures with the permanent will to include more and more people in the decision process... To sum up, lots of stuffs that I'll be glad to detail here :)

I was needing for a big customer of my company a mechanism that fires some action on certain transitions.

Thus I was quite happy to notice that the next version of trac (0.11) provides a way to customizes workflows. And thanks to the Advanced Ticket Workflow Plugin, to fulfill me need.

BUT, since there is always a but... it was not working ....

After quite some time and a lot of debugging I figured out why : the brand new workflow system was bugged, and the transition action can only be fired on a "non status change" transition. I have pointed it out to the developer of the plugin, explaining him the files that were in cause... Fortunately it has been modified in the trac sources right now... Thanks to me, like it is said :)

It's been a long long time that I have not blogged...more than 2 months. I know it is bad.

Well to sum up I've been really busy with many stuffs : the Hardy release, some marvellous holidays all accross Mexico, lots of activities around ubuntu-fr and quite a lot of work for my company.

But I have to blog on the upcoming event : thanks to my company I am heading to the Ubuntu Developper Submit in Prague. It will be really great to meet all the guys with who I, try, to work dialy :) So if you see my face (and my 2 meters that might be with it) come and talk to me !

For the last few days I have the feeling that the 5-a-day Ubuntu movement has the tendency to lower a bit... Is it just my feeling, I don't think so...
So come on evreyone, let's continue that great movement !

I am sure most of us will agree to say that when a company proposes to support their products for Ubuntu, it is a good things... In the MOTU team, as far as I see, there is a will to report everything possible upstream.

So when Zimbra proposes to support their products on Hardy if the community shows an interest... the community should show the interest !

There is a vote system available on their bugzilla, in order to vote (the kind of stuff that Dell did for their innovation process, while we had the opportunity to ask for Ubuntu on Dell systems...).

Well you know what you have to do... it will only take 3-4 minutes of your time to register and vote... it will help to improve Ubuntu...

Since yesterday Community Council, I am officially an Ubuntu Member... So the first step of my mid-term road inside the Ubuntu World has been acheive...

Depuis hier soir, je suis officiellement membre Ubuntu. En effet ma candidature a été acceptée par le Community Council... Yeah !!!

A noter LA remarque de Mark Shuttleworth lors de son opinion sur ma candidature : "i'm very happy with the strength of the french loco team"... Donc le fondateur d'ubuntu qui se réjouit de la la vitalité de la communauté Ubuntu Française !!! Ca prouve que tous les efforts que nous faisons sont visibles depuis l'extérieur (enfin bon moi j'y suis pas pour grand chose là)... C'est chouette.

Suite à la lecture du très bon billet de thierry b. sur l'installation de vmware 1.0.4 sous ubuntu gutsy en utilisant le rpm j'ai pu installer vmware sous mon ubuntu gutsy.

Mais je n'arrivais pas à le lancer... Après un petit tour dans les logs je me suis rendu compte que, le script de configuration n'avait semble-t-il pas dévérouillé l'installation.

Bref j'ai du faire un tout simple :

sudo rm /etc/vmware/not_configured

Et le tour était joué... je pouvais désormais lancer mon vmware tout récemment installé.

Lately I've been taking more and more time doing stuffs on the ubuntu world. Both on the french community (I am one of the responsible of the ubuntu-fr.org), but also on the distribution itself.

So I've decided to apply to the Ubuntu membership. It should be decided soon (in the next few monthes let say) during the community council, where stands a few top members of the Ubuntu world, like Mark Shuttleworth (the ubuntu founder) or Daniel Holbach (my mentor). I hope everything will be ok.

It will be just one step on the MOTU (Master Of The Universe) road, that I hope I'll be able to accomplish... But that will be another membership that I'll apply in the next years :)

Suite à des retours de mr_pouit (admin du Forum ubuntu-fr), je viens de releaser la version 1.0.1 de ForumAnnonces, plugin pour punbb qui permet d'avoir une annonce personnalisée en tête de chaque forum. C'est une version qui corrige 2 petits bugs.

Cette nouvelle version a été mise en production sur Forum ubuntu-fr.
